Haunted Ivy

Here is the poor, sad cottage in it’s previous “Haunted” stage.  As you can see, the ivy was, like so many things, entirely unpruned for years–possibly since it was planted.  Here, it is about ten feet tall, and the overhanging canopy of the ivy tree is about ten feet from the fence.

At the time of this photo, it was in bloom, and was beginning already to go to seed–and so was very attractive to yellow jackets, bees, birds and rats.  Not very attractive to this gardener, though.
