About

This blog marks an evolutionary transition from a strict garden blog to a more holistic blog which incorporates our ever expanding circles of endeavor.  Why deny our bread baking and natural skincare adventures their due?  People want to know about our kombucha experiments and the good stuff we’re eating. Right?

The history of this blog and it’s precursor was primarily that of a constantly evolving chronicle of the continuing adventures in revamping our garden, taking it from synthetically fertilized ornamentals to organic food production.  As each project seems to create as many possible future projects, as it resolves–so this could take a while, and there will be detours and setting aside of things.

Some things just have to happen at a given time.  For instance, the last seeds of the summer garden and the first of the autumn garden have to get planted when they have to get planted.  So, they get priority–and the pruning has to wait.

Things would be sped up if we just hired a crew, ripped everything out an started again, but craftiness, frugality and obstinance compel me to try to better utilize the resources available to us, namely existing plants and repurposed building materials.  Enthusiastic pruning and persistent weeds provide much material for composting, and we have a massive supply of seeds.

Of course, we are bending each other to our separate wills, the garden and I.  But, I think it’s going to be great fun, and we’ll both be better for it.

Here’s a little history, for the curious.

Thanks for stopping by,
